A Good Suggestion

~Climbing Brown Eyed Susans~

We've had three days of rain and thundershowers making everything very green again. The temps are in the 70s and 80s with high humidity. It's a bit oppressive and not good sleeping weather, though I am not going to complain after the summer that so many of you have had. We have been blessed. Besides, I was up early to catch up with some of you!

Soooo, a good Monday morning to you. Just a quick post to share what I did with the mosaic I showed on Friday's post. My blogging buddy "D" who writes Podso shared in comments that day that the mosaic would look great made up into a poster. Hmmm...had never considered such a thing before.

I mentioned it to my daughter and she said that she uses the Photo Center at Walgreen's online.  It was a surprise to learn all the possibilities and the fact that I didn't need a credit card — I could pay at pickup.

This is what we picked up just two short hours after submitting and with no extra charge.

~mosaic done into a poster (on photograph paper) and framed~

I wanted to save the integrity of the mosaic hence the green border; otherwise, the edges were lopped off. Anyway, it's the least expensive 10x14 option, though there are many others. We found an inexpensive frame and now I'm trying to decide if it is staying or going. =D

Just thought that all you great photographers out there might check out the options available for gift giving using your own wonderful photos.

My next post will be up for August's Note Card Party tomorrow evening between 8 and 8:30. You may add your link early or all day Wednesday and even through 10 am on Thursday the 16th. Hope to see you here! Clicking on the icon in my sidebar will take you to the post on all pertinent information.

  1. Love the Walgreen's mosaic. I had no idea there were options beyond just printing the pictures out.

The fact you've had rain for 3 days gives me hope that someday we, too, will see rain again!

  2. What a great idea Vee, and it looks lovely framed.
When I was taking photography lessons the instructor said he'd tried all the places around and came to the conclusion that Costco was the best. They put the photos through a Photoshop program and the result is always excellent. I send them from my laptop and pick up in a couple of hours.

  3. I've ordered posters before from Kodak online. I took some great pictures of the boys when we had the hobby farm years ago. The posters were Christmas presents (to them). I haven't thought about doing that in years. - - Your photos (poster) tell such a sweet story my first thought was that it's better than many featured in art shows. Honestly, it's a perfect grouping and truly touches my heart. You captured something very special.

  4. Oh Vee that is beautiful. Gives me another idea for gifts. You are quite the niffy resources person these days. Keep it up. Referring to your comment my Knockout roses keep blooming too. HH just thought because they were trimmed down that was all of them. Have a great week.

  8. We finally got rain here too. It could rain for a week and we would still need more. Most of the plants in my garden are pretty much done for with the dry weather. I even watered daily.

    Great Mosaic!

  9. What a great idea! I just love the feel of that mosaic and it would make a wonderful gift. I'm so bad about never printing my photos and just keeping them stored on my computer.

  11. A great idea...love it. Another fun thing is to have a calender made, using your photos. I had several made thru Kodak.

  16. This is a very nice idea, Vee! My DIL's Mother usues pages in this size as scrapbook pages and soemtimes frames them. My daughter makes up photo books from her photos all the time from Shutterfly. I will probably have soem wall soace very soon that will need some decoration and I thought of using my photographs to do so.

I was going to share my good news in my next blog post but I can't do that with prior published note card photos....ack! I'll see if I can get my news post done today!

  18. It's a keeper! I love it. I do Walgreens all the time for my basic prints, and I knew that they had other options, but I haven't ever done something. I am definitely going to keep this in mind.

And it's the third week of the month already? Goooood gravy. Where did August go?

  19. Vee,
    The poster came out great.
I'm loving the black eyed susan vine this year! I got 2 6-packs for $2 each, and put them into hanging baskets that I already had, and also the bathroom sink that is now acting as a container garden out back.
They are my favorites this year!

  20. Oh Vee what a lovely idea! And since I won't say it to loud (christmas) is coming sooner than we would like, there is no time like the present to get busy making our gifts.
    Have a sweet day, Elizabeth

  21. Oh my goodness that is a beautiful poster Vee! I love it. You could sell these. :) I'm going to miss participating in Note Card Wednesday this month and will probably not get around to visiting as I'll just be home and have lots to do that day. My sister is arriving the following night for a long visit. Busy, busy. I'll be around when I can. Hugs, Pam

  24. It looks wonderful as a poster! I have sent my images to Kodak online and had them enlarged from some of my photos of France. It is a great way to have art that is beautiful and yet not expensive.

  26. Hi dear,

I was going to write you a personal note, which I'll do after this.

LOVE the idea of this and can see that I could do the same with some of my bird illustrations.

  34. How did I miss this post yesterday? (My blogger dashboard has issues, that's how. Grrr...)

Anyway, your mosaic looks fabulous printed and framed like that! I love it!!

I used Walgreens photo center to make photo mugs for Mother's Day and Father's Day this year. Walgreens did an excellent job, and the service was speedy. (And they were loved by the recipients!)

  35. Hi Vee,

That photo was my favorite and it looks wonderful framed.

It was a bit muggy again today. Reminds me of Hong Kong summer weather. At least our grass is green. Usually this time of summer everything is brown here.

    Wishing you a lovely evening.
