McGarden
I am not trying to be flip with this title. It's just that the garden is so close to McDonald's and when we are out and about and want to have an easy picnic, we buy lunch from McDonald's and eat outside the gate looking into the garden. This particular garden is one of Maine's little gems and I have featured it many times: here, here, and here. So here we go again. I hope that you will enjoy it.
We enter here...
to find the garden awash in light and deep shadows
with coneflowers growing in abundance and what's that?
a butterfly...don't let that face spook ya!
nor this hornet...
daylilies are everywhere with many different varieties and how I wish I knew all their names
pink phlox
three red berries...
this was such a magical scene...the sprinklers were on and the water droplets were on everything... John walked into the middle of it...did the camera capture what I was seeing? nope

I so love these twiggy garden tripods that I think I'll be going back today to snag one
looking down through the barn where women were potting plants while their dogs enjoyed the shade
a wonderful stone planter filled with parsley
I enjoy the garden as much for the quintessential New England farmhouse as the plants...this is the shed door...note granite steps...we have lots of granite in New England

I sure am glad you have a McGarden and that you share it with us. So many wonderful things ... including the clothes line. How I miss hanging out clothes. They would just turn into mold here. YUK!

Oh, I would grab an iced mocha at McDonalds and enjoy that garden too...so pretty!! I am swooning over the New England farmhouses...and the granite steps and the stone planter. And I, too, want one of those twiggy garden tripods!

Oh my goodness, I love this post! My weakness...flowers and nature. Those twig trellises are so perfect for birds. When I saw these for the first time, I wished for a place to put one. Can you imagine how much more comforting these must be for birds to perch on? Metal and plastic must be much hotter or colder, depending on the season. The photo with John captures so much...don't you see him as a young man walking into the distance? What a great picture!

ReplyDeleteMy city of half a million is so dense, we only have planned "green belts". Definitely no garden next to our McD's.
My turn to chuckle Vee, I was expecting see what you bought at McD's to eat. I'm happy looking at all the plants you shared though, a nice place to picnic.

Ahhh, I feel like I've been for a little walk in the garden myself after seeing your beautiful photos. What gorgeous light you captured. I love the dappled lawn photo. And the granite steps. And those twiggy trellises made my heart beat a little faster too.

Beautiful photos of your gardens Vee. Love the old picket fence. We have the old granite quarries in our town, where it was mined many years ago. My husband has some pictures of the mining in it's day. ~ Abby

ReplyDeleteYour McGarden is a lovely place! You got some great shots of the flowers, too! But, Vee, you didn't tell us what your ordered to eat!! A Big Mac? I ate at MickeyD's myself today and ordered the fish sandwich and ate it on the run. Drove by the lovely garden in the city where I shop, but it was just too hot to get out and stroll around.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty garden so near your McDonalds! In NYC McD's is having a $1 for any size coffee sale and I have been indulging. They also have the breakfast egg, sausage and cheese on an English muffin for two for $3 --- a real deal!

McGarden is McRight - it's lovely! You are really doing well with your camera, amazing pictures! Okay, admittedly, I would have like to seen John standing in a sprinkler shower - teehee. Those tomatoes look yummy! Yours are turning quicker than mine, yay! I got plenty of cherry/grape ones, every the squirrels are helping themselves, ugh. Fantastic post!
